How do we get to Merzouga Luxury Desert Camps?

Getting to the desert is part of the experience.
The journey itself is spectacular, taking you through mountain passes, Berber villages, palm groves, kasbahs, and wide open desert landscapes. Many guests consider the drive an unforgettable part of their stay.

How long is the trip to the desert?

The drive from Marrakech or Fes takes approximately 9 hours and should not be rushed.
We recommend planning the journey over one or two days if possible, with an overnight stay along the way.

What time should we depart?

  • If driving directly to the camp from Marrakech or Fes: departure around 06:00 is recommended
  • If staying overnight en route: departing after breakfast is fine

Arriving near sunset is ideal, but the journey should remain relaxed.

Should we self-drive or hire a driver?

Most guests choose a private 4×4 with driver, as it is more comfortable and informative, and the final desert tracks can be technical.

Other options include:

  • Self-drive to Erfoud, then renting a 4×4 with driver
  • Full self-drive from Marrakech (guide required from Erfoud or Merzouga)

There is no fixed itinerary. Each journey is tailored to your pace and interests.

Can we reach the camp by plane or private jet?

Private jet or plane
The nearest airport is Errachidia, approximately 2 hours from the camp.
This is the fastest option for guests with limited time.

Prices available on request.

Commercial flights

  • Casablanca → Errachidia (daily flights with Royal Air Maroc)
  • Fes → Errachidia (weekly flight with Air Arabia)
  • Marrakech → Errachidia (weekly flights with Ryanair)

From Errachidia, we can assist with ground transfer arrangements.

What is the best time to arrive at the camp?

  • September – October: around 4:30 PM
  • November – February: around 3:00 PM
